| Subject: [HELP n°2] How to install a Custom Firmware on your PSP Sat Jan 05, 2008 4:30 pm | |
| Be carefull : this topic is for those who already got a PSP with a Custom Firmware (generally an old one) or a PSP with the official 1.50 firmware. If it's not the case, you have to downgrade first your PSP.
Installing a Custom Firmware is a quite simple manipulation. If you're decided to do it, you need the followings : - a PSP (yes of course) - a memory stick (32 mb is not enough) - a Ready To Use pack to install your CF (Custom Firmware), that you can find on internet (if you don't know where to find it or what it is really, ask me) - a battery charged to 100 % (it's better)
Note : formating (errasing) your memory stick before doing this manipulation could be a good idea. You just have to make a save on your PC, and then you'll put it back on the MS after.
If you got everything, you're ready to install your CF.
There are 2 parts for this manipulation (when you install the 3.52 M33 CF or an older one) :
First part : Creating the CF installer on your PSP Second part : Installing the CF on your PSP
The first part consists in extracting the RTU pack on your memory stick. After, go to Game -> Memory Stick on the XMB of your PSP and run the installer creator. It's a quite long operation during which you just have to wait (sometimes 10 or 15 minutes). When it's done, your PSP will restart automatically or you'll have to do it manually.
Note : This operation isn't dangerous for your PSP cause the installer is just created on your memory stick.
Second part : now you have created your CF installer and you are ready to install it on your PSP. Go to Game -> Memory Stick, and you can see that a new icon has appeared, the CF installler. Now you just have to run it, click on X if you agree and let's go. When it's finish, your PSP will restart and you may see a blue screen (message error) appear : don't worry it's normal, just wait till your PSP restart again and you'll just have to configure hour and date before you go back to XMB.
Note : This operation can be dangerous for your PSP if you do shit, cause it writtes on flash0 (intern memory of the PSP), but if you just made everything ok, there is no reasons that your PSP crashes.
Now you've got your new Custom Firmware installed
If you want to install the 3.71 M33 CF (for you TerrorShot), the manipulation is easier cause you just have to extract your RTU pack and run the programm : then it looks as if you were installing an official firmware (even if it's a custom one). But you have to be in 3.52 M33-4 (update 4) if you want to install it so be carefull
Conclusion : even if everything here is true, before doing any manipulation you should go to a good website which will explain everything to you with details and pictures. Then if you don't understand ask me (i'm telling this for you TerrorShot) |
